This was a recent recording from my CD called "Modern Jazz Sounds".  It features the talented Kenny MacKenzie on piano, I'm on bass, and my creative son Frank Jr. on drums. We recorded this at Frank Jr's. home studio in Ormond Beach and mixed by Kenny MacKenzie.

This is a live performance of the Bill Doyle Trio + 2 at the 3 Dogs Grill in Palm Coast, FL.
We are playing a tune I composed back in 1996 called "ABBA".  It features Peter Gemski on valve trombone; Larry Dixon on baritone sax; Don Durkee on piano; Bill Doyle on drums; and yours truly on acoustic bass.

A Little Jazz Group With A Big Band Sound

The Lighthouse Little Big Band consists of  musicians who meet regularly as a "rehearsal band" with the purpose of increasing their skills and sharing the excitement of ensemble and improvisational playing. We meet at the home of Peter Gemski, the band leader and valve trombonist. Bill Doyle and Jim Murphy share the spotlight on drums and Anneke Toomey is our wonderful pianist. I round out the rhythm section on upright acoustic bass and write arrangements for the band along with Peter Gemski. Together we have each written at least a dozen charts for this group.  The excellent horn section has Bob Olds on trumpet, Steve Willard on alto sax, Barry Kelsey on tenor sax, and Bruce Scott on baritone sax. All are super talented jazz musicians. The featured arrangement "Baroque Samba" is a unique combination of a five horn choral followed by an up tempo samba. The tune was written by Darmon Meader of the famous vocal group, New York Voices. I bought the vocal arrangement and adapted it for our eight piece bands' instrumentation. It was fun to write, arrange and play this challenging piece of music and I hope you enjoy it. UPCOMING GIGS

I will be playing with the Bill Doyle Trio, featuring pianist Don Durkee, on the following dates in April and May. Saturday, April 21st. at the Three Dogs Grille in Palm Coast, Florida (from 8 to 11 pm). Saturday, May 19th.  at the Three Dogs Grille in Palm Coast, Florida (from 8 to 11 pm). Then on Memorial Day, May 28th. we will perform at the Town Center Park in St. Augustine, Florida for the St. Augustine Jazz Society from 1:00pm to 2:30pm and be joined by guest artist Greg Wier on flute and sax.

This coming Saturday, March 3rd. from 7:00pm to 10:00pm I will be playing bass with the Bill Doyle Trio at the Three Dogs Grille at the Palm Harbour Shopping Plaza in Palm Coast, Florida. Last month with had two guest musicians sit in with us i.e. Larry Dickson on baritone sax and Peter Gemski on bass trumpet. All this music with a packed house too.
